Candice Thornton is a Jazz, Blues, R&B and Gospel singer and songwriter who lives in Cape Town. Her talent was recognized by her father at the tender age of 3 years old. Doors started opening for Candice after she won an Open Mic competition two years ago and had the opportunity to perform the Cape Town International Jazz Festival. She also received as diploma in vocals and music business at the Cape Music Institute.

She was mentored by celebrated vocalists Melanie Scholtz and Heinrich Frans. When she attended the Grahamstown Musical Festival, she met Melanie Scholtz, who invited Candice to perform at the launch of her latest CD ‘Connected’. Other famous musicians like Jonathon Butler, Ian Smith and Chad Saaiman have had her voice enrich their live performances.

Candice performs mostly cover versions of jazz songs, pop, disco, R&B and ballades. Candice has had the opportunity to share stages with Kirk Whalum, Phil Fearon, Chad Saaiman, Garth Taylor, The Black Ties to name a few. After releasing her debut single ‘Superhero’, which reached the airways and charting on Heart FM, she then followed up with Four Leaf Clover Start.

Her aim is to work towards being a national artist in South Africa but also an international artist to tour the world such as in Europe, Asia, America and South America. With her hard work and dedication, Candice is sure to make a name for herself in the local and international music scene.
