We all deserve an award for making it through the longest month in history, January. They estimate that January was roughly the same length as one day on Venus. Thankfully, we received our bonuses at the beginning of the month to help us get through it. As per usual, everyone has been working hard and it’s always a team effort to make this hostel run smoothly. But we can only pick a few individuals to receive the prestigious crew awards. So please join us in congratulating our first crew members of the month for 2019…
Simone has been with us permanently since October and is loved by all staff. She’s well known in the hostel for her laugh (which won it’s very own award at the end of the year staff party) and she has proven time and again to be an honest and responsible hard worker. Well done Simone and keep up the awesome job that you are currently doing!
In February of 2018, Gillroy joined the team as a receptionist after making his way through the rest of the business on the Green Point strip with stints at Butcher Man and at Ultra Liquors. He luckily finally settled with us and we could not be more pleased. He was promoted to the Finance Department in August and was kind of thrown into the deep end but proved himself so much that we decided to award him with a little something called Manager of the Month.
Sipho started out in housekeeping as public areas attendant and impressed everyone almost immediately with his hard work and willingness to help that he won Crew Member of the Month after just two months with us. Soon after he got promoted to receptionist and the rest is, as they say, history. Congrats Sipho on your much deserved second crew member of the month award in as many departments!
And we think it is important that you get to know our big award winner Sipho even better, so we asked him a few questions about himself, this is what he replied…
It has to be completely lost in a farm, looking for cattle.
I didn’t like a particular show but I was mad about the Super Sport channel.
Bulawayo, Zimbabwe 1987.
I would be Superman!
I would use it to buy property.
I would choose Cape Town, South Africa of course!
Gareth Davey (Bossman).
Honest, humble and caring (we couldn’t agree more Sipho!).
