With the 41st running of its world-famous Cape Town Cycle Tour race as its crescendo, the Cape Town Cycle Tour Lifecycle Week is a nine-day celebration of all things cycling, where a world-famous city embraces human power and celebrates the healthy lifestyle and freedom of movement the humble bicycle offers all its inhabitants and visitors.
The Lifecycle Week kicks off with the MTB Challenge, held out in the Cape Winelands on Saturday, 2 March 2019 and then the Junior on Sunday, 3 March 2019. This future-star event is hosted in the Cape Town Stadium Precinct, in the shadow of Table Mountain, which is also the venue for the registration process each entrant must follow to collect their race number from Thursday 7 March to Saturday, 9 March 2019 for the main event, the Cape Town Cycle Tour on Sunday, 10 March 2019, before taking in South Africa’s biggest cycling exhibition, the Cape Town Cycle Tour Expo.
CAPE TOWN CYCLE TOUR
Even if you’re not riding the Cape Town Cycle Tour, it’s still a very special event to be a part of, even as a supporter: It’s the biggest cycling event in SA with 35000-plus riders taking on the 109km route starting in the Grand Parade precinct and finishing in Green Point (a stones throw from never@home in fact)!
The Cape Town Cycle Tour Road Race takes place on 10 March 2019. Last year, the start was moved from Hertzog Boulevard to the Grand Parade Precinct to avoid the wind complications that caused the cancellation of the 2017 race. Other than that, and reaching Nelson Mandela Boulevard earlier, the race follows the traditional route around the Cape Peninsula taking in the sights along Simonstown, Misty Cliffs, Noordhoek and of course Chapmans Peak.
DRINKS AT THE RANDY AFTER THE RACE
With the finish line opposite us in Green Point, we think that you must visit us at our friendly bar & grill, the Randy Warthog for a cold one after the race. We also have a pool that would be the perfect way for you to cool down after all of that cycling (and watching).
