The South African leg of the World Sevens Rugby Tournament takes place in the Mother City for the second year running and prepare yourselves as it is less than two weeks away!

Location is Everything

Sevens Rugby is a variation of the usual 15-a-side game and has grown in size and popularity over the past decade. This year, Cape Town plays host to the World Rugby Sevens Tournament on Saturday, 10 and Sunday, 11 December 2016 at the Cape Town Stadium.

With the hostel only meters away from the stadium we are thrilled to be located so close to this exciting and popular event. And with the hostel fully booked, we are expecting a weekend full to the brim with rugby madness!

Rugby Schedule

The 2016/2017 tournament kicks off in Dubai on Friday, 2 and Saturday, 3 December 2016, after which it will touch down in South Africa for the Cape Town leg a week later. This year, 16 of the best international Sevens Rugby teams will compete in the tournament, such as our fellow African nations, Kenya and Zimbabwe. The 2016-17 series retains the same schedule as this season, kicking off in Dubai on 2-3 December, visiting 10 cities across five continents before concluding in London on 20-21 May.

To Win or Not to Win?

In the past two years, South Africa has won the home tournaments, but we have not claimed the title of World Sevens Rugby Champions since 2009. So let’s keep our fingers crossed in hoping that 2016 will be our year!

Dressed to Impress

Dedicated supporters often dress up in creative and crazy costumes that add to the excitement and buzz of the event. Get your thinking caps on and round up your mates because the bigger the group with matching outfits the better it looks. There are also loads of prizes up for grabs for the best dressed.

So here are a few of our personal favourites to get those creative juices of yours flowing ….
