never@home wouldn’t be the home it is without its staff, so please join us in congratulating David Salvermoser for winning Crew Member of the Month for February 2016. David is an extremely valuable member of the Front Office team who is always going above and beyond expectations to assist guests, colleagues and management. Being our volunteer from Germany, David will certainly leave Cape Town (sob sob) adored by many and we are very proud to have had him as part of our crew.
Before we get all emotional thinking about David’s soon to be return back home to Germany, it’s only right you get a snippet of how awesome he is for yourself. We asked David a few questions about himself and his time in Cape Town and this was his response …
1) What encouraged you to travel to Cape Town?
Two years ago I was in South Africa (Joburg, Panorama Route, Kruger) and a lot of people I met there told me that these parts of SA are nice but if I wanna see the best part of SA I should go to CT.
2) How did you find out about never@home?
When researching hostels in CT, never@home definitely convinced me
3) What are your 3 top things to do in Cape Town?
Must do’s are: Friday nights on Longstreet,
Running on the promenade during sunset and having a good Braai at Mzoli’s
4) What is your favourite dish at the Randy?
That’s a hard question but Chef Juan’s beef curry is phenomenal … You shouldn’t leave without trying it!
5) Aside from The Randy Warthog (of course), where else do you like to eat and/or drink in Cape Town?
At the Eastern Bazaar near the Central Station you get Indian, Chinese and also Italian food for a very small prize. It’s fantastic. I’m also enjoying the Happy Hour at Hudsons Burger Joint every Monday to Friday from 16:30-18:30 – Cocktails and Beers are half prize!!!
6) If you were a cartoon character who would you be? And why?
I’d love to live Bart Simpsons life for the day.
7) If you could only take one item on holiday with you, what would it be?
Definitely a football.
8) Besides Cape Town where is your next favourite place to visit in South Africa?
I really want to go back to the Kruger National Park one day, which is one of the most amazing and wonderful places I’ve ever been to!
Who has made a positive impact for you during your stay at never@home? We would love to know so we can ensure they get the acknowledgement and gratification they deserve.
